The Access for All Alliance is determined to educate our tourism operators!
Access for All would very much like to hear from anybody who knows of any tourist accommodation or tourist venue that they have found ABSOLUTELY accessible to their needs.
If you know of any such tourist venue please send contact details of the venue to accessforall@bigpond.com. The tourist operator will be contacted and invited to apply to be included on the AustraliaForAll web-site….an e-service web site/one stop shop for accessible tourism.
Warning! Facililties must comply with the legislation covering access to premises to be deemed ‘wheelchair friendly’.
The Access for All Alliance has certainly drawn PWF readers’ attention to the fact that holidays can be fraught with disappointing difficulties for people with disabilities. It will be very interesting – maybe a bit demoralising – to see how many venues DO actually provide realistic access for all. Do take a minute to tell them know if you know of such venues.

My daughter, Lucy, had severe cerebral palsy and required hoist, hospital bed and much other equipment for me to care for her. I could not find any holiday accommodation suitable so she had to remain in respite if I went on holiday. When she died recently, I decided to use all the equipment and set my home up as Bed and Breakfast style accommodation for very high support needs people. I have done some additional modifications to accommodate people less disabled also. Please ckeck out my web site http://www.lucyslodge.com.au and I will offer the first person to mention this article a free stay at Lucy’s Lodge to trial it and give their opinion. I am located in Daylesford, Victoria, famous for its mineral springs, galleries and gourmet food.
